Dinner at Tocanos

As a special treat, Joe and I took the kids to a restaurant that we'd never eaten at before - Tucanos. The kids had eaten there once before and enjoyed it. Tucanos is based on the Brazilian tradition of grilling, or CHURRASCO (shoe-HAS-ko), which is a fusion of South American and European cultures. At Tucanos, the meats are tastefully seasoned and cooked on skewers over open-flame grills. The skewers are then brought to your table where sizzling portions are sliced onto your plate. You may choose as many different flavors and cuts as you like.

The food stops only when you quit. You are given a wooden cylinder that signals whether you want more (green), need help (yellow) or are defeated (red). You can see by the picture below, we were still on the green mode.

Servers continually prowl the restaurant with skewered meats in search of empty plates and hungry eyes. You need only say yes and sirloin, mango fish, asada, chicken hearts, roasted pinepple and more will be yours to sample and enjoy. My favorite thing was the freshly grilled pineapple. I can still remember that sweet juicy taste on my tongue.
