Showing us that he cleaned everything up on his plate, including broccoli!
Life is a book. Each day is a new page. May your book be a best seller with adventures to tell, lessons to learn and tales of good deeds to remember.

Boo Boo Day
It was not a good time for either Derek or Papa Joe. Derek kept falling down or stumbling and kept skinning up his knee. This latest one occurred when he was showing me how fast he could pedal his tricycle. Papa Joe somehow scrapped the skin off one of his hands and bled quite profusely. That's after he'd bled from the removal of bandaids from the after effects of his dialysis ports removal. There almost wasn't enough bandaids or kisses to fix the problem for both of them.
And, I had started out the day by spraying hairspray on my armpits instead of deodorant. That's what happens when the cans look too similar.

Day Three With Derek
Derek and I started out our morning by dropping Papa Joe off at the "doctor's office" again. Corey and Nikki were heading out to celebrate her parent's wedding anniversary by the entire family attending the temple in Manti.
Since we had a couple of hours before the stores would open up, Derek and I headed back to the house for a little home fun and excitement.
Then we headed to one of Grandma Carol's favorite places - The Quilted Bear. I had it timed just right so that we would leave from there and go get Joe.
(Don't you just love Derek's facial expression in the cart. He's trying to look at me from the corner of his eyes while I took his picture). He was a perfect little gentleman the entire time we were in the store. It was really funny near the end of our stay in the store when he would say, "Grandma Carol, is it time to park the cart?" What a subtle way of saying, "I'm ready to get out of this store!"
Then it was time to go get Papa Joe so that we could go eat lunch...
I just love this picture. Derek wanted to help Papa Joe walk to the car...
Then we went to eat at one of Papa Joe's favorite restaurants in Utah - The Mongolian Barbecue. That's where we also met Ally for lunch. So sorry Ryan wasn't feeling well and couldn't come.

By the time we'd finished eating, Mommy and Daddy had come home, so our fun day had come to an end.

Hanging With Derek - Day One
Since Corey and Nikki were going to work and since Papa Joe was going to dialysis, that left Derek and me the opportunity to spend time together.
First order of business, after dropping Papa Joe off at the "doctor's office", was breakfast for Derek. We headed to McDonald's since they have a fantastic play space for little people.
Though he said he didn't want to eat anything, Derek gobbled up some pancakes, hash browns, scrambled eggs and chocolate milk. Then it was playtime...
Then it was off to Sam's Club to see if there was anything we just had to have - there wasn't.
Next stop...a craft shop once again to see if there wasn't something that needed to be purchased. Nope. Just a free red balloon for Derek.
Then it was on to a luncheon date with a very dear friend. Because we'd gotten to the restaurant a little early we sat out in the beautiful weather on the bench. Derek enjoyed watching the equipment clean up on a construction site.
Then Melissa showed up and we went in to eat at an Indian buffet which I thoroughly enjoyed. This picture does no justice to Melissa who is an absolutely beautiful girl. She served her mission in Tifton and attended Joe's and my sealing in the temple. It had been a little over three years since I'd seen her and it was wonderful having the opportunity to spend some time with her.

Rubber Ducky Time
That's me taking my bath in the sink at 11 months according to the back of the picture. Note the glass milk bottles on the lefthand side of the picture.
This is Corey about the same age. The avocado green and harvest gold (and orange) were the "in" colors at the time.

Corey loved sticking his mouth on the faucet and spraying water so I had to always make sure it was good and sterilized. He loved his baths!
And, here's Derek enjoying his bath at about the same age...

Derek's 3rd Birthday Party (From the Weaver Perspective)
The primary reason we went back to Utah in February was to help celebrate Derek's third birthday. We've been very fortunate to celebrate his birthday every year.

Oh look! It's a present from Papa Joe. What can it be?

It's a bicycle helmet! And it's got some of the "Cars" characters on it!
Now what did Grandma Carol bring me?

Then it was time to blow out some candles and eat cupcakes...

Who Let The Dogs Out? Who? Who?
Corey and a friend of his were doing some brake work on my car. I was outside with Derek watching him ride his bicycle when the neighbors new puppies came running over to visit. Things started out all nice and friendly until the puppies decided to chew on his bicycle tassels.

Grocery Shopping With Grandma Carol
Derek and I got to do a little grocery shopping together. I just love how he was so good at "buggy surfing" and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Method 1 consisted of standing on the front and holding on with a death grip...
Method 2 consisted of nonchalantly draping his arms over the cart in a crossed-arm manner for a more intense conversation pose...

Ready For Church
No words necessary on this one other than "couldn't you just eat him up"!

Yes, Grandma, I am handsome.
