Cruisin' Around The Field - As A Chauffeur

Recently I had the opportunity to play chauffeur and document information for Trina who was taking soil samples in the oilfield.

This is the drilling rig off in the distance...

Here are a couple of the guys just coming from the rig. Notice the truck. Can you tell we'd had lots of rain recently?

Oilfield Historic Foundations

When driving around in the oilfield recently, I saw for the first time some of the remains and foundations of buildings that once stood in the field. At the height of its oil production, NPR-3 had hundreds of people living on the property or nearby.

...I don't think so! This was the scene at work the second week in April.

The grating is to scrap off muddy boots and shoes...

And then the sun came out in the afternoon...

This is the truck I drive in the field and into town when delivering water samples to a lab...

And the next day, the snow was all gone!

More Snow Pics

On several occasions I've commented about the weather conditions in the oilfield. These pictures may give an idea of how crazy the weather can be at times.

Notice the snow drifts up next to side of the office...

This path was shoveled out so that we could get into this office door...

December 1st, 2009

When I left work today and got into the truck, this is what I saw on the passenger seat side after a few hours of snow in the field...

Driving through the field...

Coming up on the one lane bridge and holding my breath until I pass over it...

I finally reached the two lane highway...

and this is what it looked like driving to the interstate...

The the snow started to drift up on the road...

The state mows the sides of the road. I never could understand why since there is not a lot of traffic and lots and lots of open land. Then I found out it's so that the snow doesn't drift so badly at the side of the road if there is nothing to stop the snow - like unmowed grass.

This is what my car looked like when I reached the parking lot in Casper. That was after running by the lab to pick up sample bottles and then I had to go pick Joe up from work at Walmart. By the time we reached home, it had been two hours since I'd left the oilfield.
