Coming Home - Christmas 2009

This is a rest area that did not receive a plowing or sanding and it was drive and walk at your own risk! When Mother Nature is calling though, you do what you gotta do.
This is my favorite spot on the trip home. It's off the interstate between Rawlins and Casper on this two laned highway. I love it because when you are at the top of the mountain ridge you can see the whole valley below and about 20 miles in any direction.

After Dinner In The Mall

Passing Time

Derek finished eating before we adults did and was getting restless. So, Grandma Carol pulled out her camera and gave it to Derek.

These are only some of the pictures he took...

Christmas Eve Dinner

On Christmas Eve, Joe and I took the kids (and Flat Riley) to dinner at one of our favorite "special dinner" restaurants - P.F. Chang's.

Heading Home After Christmas

Frozen waterfalls...
Those little black boxes are ice tents that people with brain freeze use to go ice fishing. Look at those crazy people standing on the frozen lake fishing.

Great pictures, huh? Just think what I could do with a great camera.

Derek and The Christmas Tree

Derek was totally entralled by the Christmas tree - even more so after the presents were removed and opened.

One evening Joe and I chased the kids out of the house for a little "date" time so we could keep Derek by ourselves. While gone, I noticed Derek sneaking up next to the tree and then watched how he would gingerly reach out and touch it with his fingers or foot.

Derek - Christmas Day

Derek had his picture made with "Flat Riley" who was also visiting for Christmas...

Nikki Dancing With Corey

Yes, I do wish I had sound with this one...

Some Bonding Time

While in Utah for Christmas, Joe developed a nosebleed during the night time. Next morning Corey took us to a clinic to have it checked out. Apparently the air was so dry in Utah that one of his nasal cavities started bleeding.

Looking back over the last year, we realized that he'd developed nosebleeds for the first two weeks after our move to Wyoming.

Don't they look so cute watching NCIS together?

Cowboy Joe

Joe FINALLY got his cowboy hat!!! I gave it to him for one of his Christmas presents AND I also got him a real genuine, bona fide cowboy shirt. I draw the line at boots and a belt buckle though!

Doesn't he look stylish?

Christmas Morning - 2009

The lovely decorated tree the night before...

No, Corey! It can't be so bad that you have to stick your head in the fireplace. Oh, you were say you were just preparing the fireplace for a nice roaring fire on Christmas morning? Okay.

It's a shame there was nothing under the tree this year...

Look! We're all wearing our "Granddaddy" shirts...

Time to open the presents!

This is how the camera works...
Oh goody. Another present!
Look! Grandpa Joe must want Derek to become an Indiana University basketball player!

And Derek's pretty good dunking those shots...
Nikki putting together the "musical" Sit N Spin which Derek figured out how to work quickly and often... So many things to play with...so little time!
Various hot sauces for a "hottie"...
Grandpa Joe got his own IU tie from the kids...

What a wonderful Christmas! It was the best one that I can remember in many years and it was totally different from last year when Joe and I spent the day alone in Wyoming.

We were very blessed this year in that we feel everyone's wishes were fulfilled and we spent some wonderful time together.
