More Roundup Pics

Now I know why they call Montana "Big Sky Country". The views just go on and on and on...the only sign of of civilization was the telephone poles. As Joe put it..."Do you think the cowboys wait until they get to the bunkhouse before they use the bathroom"?
Look at how the view just goes on and on and on and on...
Joe holding one of the horses until it's loaded into the trailer...
Loading up the four-wheeler...

The Cattle Roundup

Sunday morning we all got up and had to go and move the cows from a holding pen to their pasture. These were the cows used in the team penning from the day before.

This is Trina, Sherry and Brian loading up the horses.
Unloading the horses by the holding pen...
Can you tell it was little cool?
Joe making friends with one of the horses...
Trina heading out on the four-wheeler...
And we're off...
Did I mention that Sherry had Joe drive her truck? Our job was to help make sure that the cows didn't go in the wrong direction and we brought up the rear. We followed Trina who followed the horses.
Lots of wide open space...
Here come the cows heading into their pasture...
Heading back after putting the cows in the right pasture...
Some of the "road" Joe drove over...
Everyone made it back safely...me, Joe and Sherry.

The Fabulous Four

Trina named these guys "The Fabulous Four". The guy on the far right is 84 years old and he participated in the team penning. They all had spurs and the second on the left had on chaps.

More Team Penning Pics

It's the cows being let out of the pens after getting numbers on their backs.
Laying down the foul line. I sat at the end of the line in the bleachers in the picture.
The cows heading for the pen.
That is our hostess, Sherry, setting things up at the registration table. That's cow poop she's got smeared on her pants. Those are real spurs on real cowboy boots... Those are real belt buckles on a real cowgirl and cowboy...
