Why am I writing about Pencil Day? I was either in third or fourth grade when for some reason, which I don't remember, I stuck my No. 2 yellow pencil into my left hand. I do remember it began bleeding badly enough that I had to go see the school nurse.
Though you cannot tell by the picture, even though I drew a circle around it, I still can see the lead/graphite that was left in my hand. For many, many years I could even feel where the lead was. Why I could still see and feel the lead, I don't know either. You would think that someone would have either removed or cleaned my hand, but it never was. That shall remain one of those great mysteries I guess.
