A Glance Back to 2010-The Year That Was...

One of the great things about doing a blog is that I am able to go back and do a review of what happened in the last year. It's amazing when you find out how many things you forgot about and how many things you would like to forget about too!

So here is the year that was the Weavers...
  • January started off with a quote I heard in Relief Society which was "You never know when you may be the answer to somebody's prayer." I don't know if I was the answer to somebody's prayer, but in the coming year, I would find out that a great number of people would be the answer to my prayers.

  • Joe had his first visit by an ambulance at our home when he collapsed into an epileptic seizure when his blood sugar plummeted. He was fine once his sugar was brought back up to normal.

  • We made a trip to Utah to celebrate Derek's 2nd birthday.

  • We attended the wedding of two of our "missionary children" to each other, spent the night with one and her husband and had a double date dinner with two more. We were also visited by another one and her family upon her release the latter part of the year.

  • The kids came to visit us in February.

  • March brought a first hospital stay for Joe when he developed pneumonia and wound up in ICU.

  • I got the opportunity to see something I'd wanted to see - we went to a Professional Bull Rider rodeo and it lived up to my expectations. Now I want to go to the World Nationals in Las Vegas!

  • I got my first professional digital camera and extra lenses. I'm still learning how to take fantastic shots.

  • In April, Joe and I got up very early one morning to go watch the mating dance of the Sage Grouse hen. Hmmm.

  • It was still snowing into April. It was still snowing in May.

  • We were fortunate to go and spend an afternoon with Bill Cosby when he gave a performance in Casper.

  • Then it was time to fly to Georgia for our family reunion.

  • We went to the area airport and toured and climbed in a B-17 Flying Fortress

  • We made a day trip to southeastern Wyoming and viewed the Oregon Trail Ruts and Register Cliffs.

  • The Pony Express had a reenactment which we witnessed.

  • The town of Kaycee had a park dedication to the memory of Chris LeDoux which we attended.

  • We made a trip to Rapid City, South Dakota. Joe was having problems with his eyes and had been sent up there by a specialist.

  • We visited the western part of the state and spent some time seeing dinosaur fossils in Kemmerer.

  • We had a "world famous raspberry shake" in Bear Lake, Idaho.

  • We searched for and found pioneer graves.

  • The 4th of July was spend in Utah with the kids.

  • We attended our first ranch wedding.

  • I climbed Independence Rock.

  • We watched pig wrestling.

  • Our 6th wedding anniversary was spend white water rafting down the Wind River Canyon.

  • Joe had a heart attack.

  • The kids made a visit and helped out while Joe was in the hospital.

  • Joe's kidneys shut down and he started weekly dialysis treatments.

  • I got a new job - working in the field Procurement Department.

  • Helped change a flat tire out in the middle of nowhere on a friend's truck.

  • I had a "girl's day out" to South Dakota with two girlfriends for the day.

  • Joe was in the hospital beginning in July, in August, September, October and finally had his last hospital stay of the year in November.

At the beginning of 2010, Joe and I sat down and I wrote in a notebook the things we would like to do during the course of the year. Last weekend, I pulled out the notebook and Joe and I read through the list to see what we had accomplished. Out of 18 items we had listed, we had managed to complete 1 1/2. We had completed our "float down river" and we had listed "see Mt. Rushmore". I saw that on my day out with the girls.

So, we are going to transfer some of those items to our plans for 2011. Some of the old items won't be possible to do due to Joe being on dialysis, but some things can be done with some early planning.

When it comes to 2010, all-in-all it personally ranks as one of the worse years I can ever remember. Basically 1/2 of the year was spent sitting around in the hospital, waiting in doctor offices reading old magazines and standing in line at the Wal-Mart pharmacy starting at the condom display. I'm looking forward to some different scenery this year!
